Managed means we do it, not that you can
Most hosting is sold as access: here is a control panel, here are your backups, good luck. That is fine if you are technical and have the time. If you are running a business, it means the updates do not happen and the backup is discovered to be broken on the day you need it.
Managed hosting with us means the patching, the SSL renewals, the backup verification and the monitoring are ours to do. If something breaks at eleven on a Sunday, the alert comes to us. You find out when we tell you it is fixed.
Backups that have actually been restored
An untested backup is a rumour. We take daily off-site backups, keep a rolling history rather than just last night, and periodically restore one to confirm the process works - because the failure mode nobody plans for is a backup that has been silently failing for months.
Off-site matters too. A backup stored on the same server as the site does not survive the event you are backing up against.
Security is mostly maintenance
The overwhelming majority of South African sites that get compromised were not targeted. They were running a plugin with a known vulnerability that had a patch available for months.
So the work is unglamorous and continuous: apply the patches, keep the SSL valid, keep the security headers in place, remove the plugins nobody uses, and watch for the changes nobody made. We would rather do that quietly every month than clean up a defaced site once.
Care plans, for when you want more than keeping the lights on
Some clients want hosting handled and nothing more. Others want a monthly slot for the changes that never get done - the price list that is out of date, the team member who left, the page that was always going to be written.
We offer both. If you also want ongoing work on search visibility - content, Search Console reviews, Google Business Profile management - that is available as a retainer rather than a fixed plan, because it only works when it is shaped around your market. Do I have to host with you?
No. Hosting and maintenance are entirely optional, and every site we build is yours to take anywhere. Plenty of clients host elsewhere and we still support them.
Can you maintain a website you did not build?
Usually. We review the existing site first to confirm it is in a maintainable state, then tell you what it would take. Occasionally the honest answer is that it needs rebuilding before it can be maintained sensibly.
What happens if I want to leave?
Thirty days notice and we hand over the site, files, domain and every credential in full. No cancellation fee and nothing withheld.
What if my site goes down?
Monitoring alerts us first, and in most cases it is resolved before anyone reports it. If the cause is on our side, fixing it is included - there is no per-incident charge.
Does maintenance include SEO?
Basic technical upkeep, yes - sitemaps, broken links, page speed. Active search work like content, Search Console reviews and Google Business Profile management is a separate retainer, priced around your market rather than sold as a fixed tier.
