SaaS & MVPs

SaaS built by a studio that runs its own.

Most agencies that build SaaS have never had to sell one, support one or chase a failed payment on one. We run three of our own. That changes what gets built first.

Start with the smallest version that can take money

The most expensive mistake in a new software product is building for a year before anyone pays for it. We scope an MVP around one question: what is the smallest thing a customer would pay for? That version ships first, and real usage decides what comes second.

The pricing model is part of that decision. POPIA Ready sells single documents or a bundle, once-off, because that is how its buyers think about a privacy policy. PluginLyzer mixes a free monthly scan, a one-time pack and subscriptions, because plugin developers range from hobbyists to agencies. We make that call with you at the start, not after launch.

The unglamorous half, done properly

Sign-up, login, password resets, teams and roles. Subscriptions, upgrades, downgrades, cancellations, failed payments and receipts. An admin area to find a user, refund a charge or switch someone's plan. None of it appears in a pitch deck, and all of it has to work on day one.

We have built it for our own products, so it is not the part of the project where the timeline slips.

Taking payment from South Africa

Stripe does not support South African-registered businesses, which catches out a lot of founders halfway through a build. We have shipped rand payments through PayFast and international subscription billing on our own products, and we will recommend the right provider for your market before a line of billing code is written.

After launch

A SaaS product is never finished. We can stay on to host it, monitor it and keep shipping features month by month, or hand it to your own developers with documentation good enough that they do not need us. Either way, you own the code.

Good to know

SaaS & MVPs questions, answered.

How much does it cost to build a SaaS MVP?

Quoted per project after a free scoping call. The biggest lever on price is scope, which is why we push hard on what the first version genuinely needs. A tightly scoped MVP costs a fraction of a "version one" that tries to do everything.

How long until we can launch?

A focused MVP is typically weeks rather than months. You get dated milestones with the quote, and a working version to click through early.

Can you take payments in rand?

Yes. PayFast is the default for rand payments, and it is what POPIA Ready runs on. For international customers we set up subscription billing with a provider that supports South African businesses.

Can you add AI features?

Yes. Spreadli and PluginLyzer are both built around AI features, and we treat running cost, accuracy and data handling as part of the design rather than an afterthought.

Who owns the product?

You do. The code, data and accounts are yours, and we document it well enough that another developer could take it over.
