Why a Fast Website Wins More Business
Speed isn't a nice-to-have - it's the difference between a visitor who converts and one who bounces. Here's why performance matters and how we build for it.

Most visitors decide whether to stay on a page within the first couple of seconds. Every extra second your site takes to load after that is a small tax on your enquiries, and it adds up faster than most business owners expect.
Speed is a business metric, not a technical one
Google has said plainly that page experience and Core Web Vitals factor into rankings. But the bigger issue is what happens on the page itself: a site that loads slowly loses visitors before they’ve even read your headline. We’ve seen this play out on client projects more than once - a redesign focused purely on speed, with the content barely touched, and enquiry numbers went up simply because fewer people gave up waiting.
A slow site isn’t just an inconvenience. It’s a leak in the top of your funnel.
What actually makes a site slow
Usually it’s one of a few culprits: oversized images that were never compressed, a page builder loading megabytes of JavaScript for a static layout, or a hosting plan that’s simply underpowered for the traffic. Rarely is it one dramatic problem - it’s death by a thousand small ones.
How we build fast by default
Performance isn’t something we bolt on after launch. It shapes decisions from the first line of code:
- Lean, hand-built markup instead of bloated page-builder output.
- Properly sized, next-gen images (WebP) instead of full-resolution JPEGs shrunk with CSS.
- Minimal JavaScript - interactivity earns its place; it isn’t shipped by default.
- Core Web Vitals tuning so the site feels instant on a mid-range phone, not just on a developer’s laptop.
What this means for you
A beautiful site that takes six seconds to load is a missed opportunity dressed up nicely. A beautiful site that loads in under a second is doing sales work while you sleep. That’s the one we aim to build every time.
If your current site feels sluggish, get in touch - we’ll tell you honestly whether it needs a rebuild or just a tune-up.
